The top and bottom are smooth and the top is engraved "Mattie". The bottom is stamped "Sterling" and has the maker's mark for the Unger Bros. of Newark, NJ. Unger Bros. Circa 1890s. It holds a silver thimble, stamped inside the top with "Sterling", 7 (the size) and the trademark for Waite, Thresher & Co. of NY.
