From the sellerAntique Russian Distaff Intricately Hand Painted. Russian distaff, a wooden panel given by young men to young ladies in contemplation of Marriage. A household item ladies sat on as they did weaving of multi- yarn items. Part of women's cultural roles as the weaver and maker of a families fabric needs. This provincial distaff made in three sections to store away easily and quickly painted in traditional motifs. The size is in total 35" tall and 10" wide at the top, Balance foot is 20.5" long. Antique with some splitting to the central connection as shown in the detailed photos. Repaired and tighten, paints shown wear and use. Waxed finish. Good condition for its age but please review pictures for condition
