Description
From the sellerThis is an early wooden cigar box for the Pittsburg's Finest brand, featuring a vibrant color graphic of a policeman on the inner lid. The box was produced by the Wm. J. Jamieson Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It displays a price point of 2 for 5 cents on the label and holds 25 cigars. Spelling Trivia: Notice the spelling of "Pittsburg" without the "h". The United States Board on Geographic Names officially stripped the "h" from the city's name in 1891, before reversing the decision and restoring it in 1911. This helps narrow the box's manufacturing era down to roughly 1891–1911.
