Antique Handmade Micmac Indian Miniature Birch Bark & Wood Canoe NR

…… Measuring only 14 1/4” long by 2 5/8” wide by 1 3/8” tall, this antique early-20th-century Miniature Canoe is handmade of wood and Birch bark. As you can see, it is constructed in the traditional manner, with dark brown pine pitch or sap sealing the seams and the wood frame of the interior. We tried to confirm if this was native American made with research online but couldn't find another example exactly like this antique Miniature Canoe. Because of the quality we assume it is Micmac Indian. …… There is some loss to the paper thin birch-bark along with a few missing natural lashings along the sides and at one end. There are also two missing wooden thwarts (cross supports). ... The rest of this circa-1900 Miniature Canoe is in very good and there are no restorations.
