…… Signed in the lower left-hand corner by Gregory Hollyer (1871-1965), this early 20th-century Oil Painting on artist board depicts a peaceful pastoral landscape with flowering apple trees in full bloom overlooking a quiet stream where several cattle drinking from the stream and resting beneath the flowering trees. Born in London, Hollyer was the son of renowned Scottish animal painter W.P. Hollyer and studied under Eugène Verboeckhoven in Brussels and Émile Van Marcke in Paris, two of Europe's foremost animal painters.
