Antique German Military or Fireman Helmet w/ Double Head Eagle Insignia, NR

…… OK, we give up. We tried our best to identify this antique German Helmet but we could not find another that was exact. First off it is not metal and the surface is a thick lacquer that look oriental. There are a couple of chips to the lacquer and we can see the color red underneath, which lead us to believe this helmet many be for a Fireman. Measuring 8 5/8” wide by 10” long by 7” tall this helmet weighs only 3 pounds and has a finely hand painted symbol on the back of a two head Eagle with spread wings. The helmet is in original condition, but the lining is missing. It looks like the foam rubber was added over the original canvas lining. … One thing we do know is that some eBay will win this mid-20th century Helmet.
