Description
From the sellerAntique hand-painted fraternal lodge apron, likely late 18th to early 19th century, possibly Odd Fellows or related early fraternal order. Painted on dark blue silk/satin with red fringe trim and symbolic imagery including sun, moon, beehive, clasped hands, tools, robed figures, shield, drapery, flowers, and gilt boar crest. Measures roughly 15” x 13.5”. The reverse has old newspaper applied later as a stiffener or support repair and I don’t think it to be original to the apron. Fragile antique condition with silk loss, holes, tears, cracking and flaking paint, fading, creasing, paper backing loss, and fringe wear. Sold as found for collection, conservation, or display. Feel free to ask any questions.
