Antique 19thC Painted Cast Iron Combination Security Safe Bank, w/ Draws, NR

…… The antique, Cast Iron Combination Safe Bank in this auction dates from the 19th-century, and measures 6” tall by 4 ½” long by 4” wide. Online, we found similar examples made by Kyser & Rex; however, this Bank is unmarked. The front reads “Security Safe Deposit, and both sides retain their original handles. The combination consists of letters and numbers. The locking mechanism does work, and we figured out the combination. It is 12-Y-E. When you open the safe, it retains its two original drawers. One of the drawer pulls has been replaced by a previous owner. There is a hairline to the bottom of one of the drawers, and the other has a small piece missing from the back, but they still work properly. The bottom of this Bank is marked with patents between 1881 and 1887.
