Esso Baltimore was a 7,949 ton tanker built by the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation at Sparrows Point, Maryland. It was a vital supply vessel during World War II, carrying war cargo to North Africa and navigating Atlantic convoy routes during the war. It was sold to a private shipping firm in 1953 and was renamed Amphitrite in 1953. She was eventually scrapped in Hong Kong in 1964. This auction is from the original launching and is in a 24 ½” long by 15” wide by 6 ½” tall, solid Mahogany chest.
