Description
From the seller8x5 ecru ruled paper date January 12, 1871, sent to hardware merchants in Macon from J H Allen. Letter was written in Smithville, Georgia but J H Allen lived in Eatonton, Putnam County and wants the bar of iron he is ordering to be sent to Eatonton by train. Allen was born in 1825 and died in 1890 and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery with this inscription on his stone: Confederate States Army, None knew him but to love him.None named him but to praise.
