Some of the most beautiful moments happen when you’re not looking for them. I took the reference photo for this piece while sitting in traffic one evening, watching the sky slowly fade from golden yellow to deep blue. For a few minutes, the cars, brake lights, and overpass disappeared into the background, and all I could think was, I have to paint this. Rather than focusing on the traffic, I wanted to capture the feeling of that quiet pause—the kind that sneaks into an ordinary commute when the sky puts on a show.
