Several leased and affiliated lines made up the core of the New York Central System, including Date: 1 July, 1897. Nice printed vignette of Cornelius Vanderbilt II at top. The cost savings from eliminating duplicate facilities and workers never happened, and Penn Central declared bankruptcy in 1970.
