2011 Postal Commemorative Society Presidential Coin $1 James Garfield Stamp

First of all, I'd like to say that President Garfield is often overlooked. His term only lasted 4 months before he was assassinated, and consequently died months later from infection and sepsis. Garfield was a Major General in the Union Army and had plans of continuing to uplift the African American population by government supported education, and appointed several African Americans to prominent positions. He was opposed to government corruption and we can only speculate as to what he would have accomplished if given the chance. This Postal Commemorative Society Presidential Coin celebrates his brief presidency. It would be a perfect addition to coin or stamp collectors, fans of history, presidents, and the civil rights movement.
