1957 HAWAII KAI III ORIGINAL ISSUE HYDROPLANE BUTTON, UNION BUG PARALLEL TO PIN

An authentic first issue 2.25 inch celluloid pin back button from 1957 Hawaii Kai III (U-8). The Hawaii Kaii III was one of the most famous and dominant unlimited hydroplane racing boats of the 1950s known affectionately as "The Pink Lady". This pin honors the Dream Team roster of driver Jack Regas and crew chief Mike Welch. The union stamp or "union bug" on the back sits parallel to the pin. The Hawaii Kai III swept five consecutive races in 1957 to win the National High Point Championship and went on to set a world water speed record of over 187 mph.
