The 1880s Rare Brown Suit Santa Card , an advertisement for G. W. Chase & Son Fine Candies from St. Joseph, MO is a unique Victorian era trade card. The 4 3/4" T x 3 1/4" W richly colored card showcases an early Santa Claus, or "Belsnickel" figure. He's dressed in a brown suit with a small brown leather pack rather than the modern Red and White outfit . While the corners show light rounding, white borders are intact on all four sides. Color is excellent, making this card a strong addition to any Victorian era collection . Its vintage illustration and classic design offer a glimpse of days gone by ,when things were simpler..that being said, no details were spared in the creation of this classic nearly 150 year old trade card. a very nice piece of Victorian era ephemera.
