Obverse Ship lying to at a coal staithe, BEWICKE MAIN COLLIERY Reverse: Legend in centre and round edge ONE PENNY PAYABLE AT NEWCASTLE ON TYNE AND LONDON. Note: Bewicke Main colliery was located at Birtley near Kibblesworth, Durham. Diagonally milled edge. Davis Northumberland 16, Withers 885. Diameter 33 mm. Clean and well struck, rich chocolate brown, ink number (13) on obverse from previous collection
